Suggested schedule for Development of Firing techniques 2010.

APRIL  2010

Sunday 11th, 1st meeting       Planning the building of a trial kiln.

Friday 23 – Sunday 25,

2nd meeting                                We build together a 1.5 m2 trial kiln. + rapeoil burner + 2 trial                                                    kilns for self-firing sculpture, adjusted to fit the trial kiln.

Wednesday 29-Thurs 29

3rd meeting                                 First firing of the trial kiln.

MAY 2010

Thu 6th – Fri 7th

4th Meeting                                 3 more firings in the trial kiln. Parallel we plan and build the Big Kiln during the following meetings, 4,5 and 6.

Friday 14th – Sat 15th                                            Trial firing, we fire some of the sculptures from the Ayanaar Symposium and

JUNE 2010

Thu 3rd – Sun 6th                                                    Firing Seminar, 4 days. This is the first firing  (of 4) of the monumental sculptures from the Ayanaar Symposium in                                                   August 2009. After that we  evaluate before planning the next kiln firing.

Summary of Development of Firing techniques:

Membership Meetings 1-6, planning, working, building, developing together.

During meeting no 2 we welcome those who were not able to participate because the symposium was filled, and who asked to be contacted for the next “similar workshop”. Or who has contacted us for membership in Nyteks at which time we have suggested they come for a trial participation, to get to know the material and method, Nyteks and our work.

Firing Seminar 1,2,3 and 4 (at which time we fire the monumental sculptures from the Ayanaar Symposium).

We would appreciate it if those members who wishes to participate would make a preliminary application to the Firing Seminars, all or single days. After the first firing we collectively decide date and time for Firing 2,3 and 4. Not until then, when we know how many members can/wish to participate, weill we know how many we can welcome.

SELF-FIRING sculpture, somewhere in Visby City, some time in September – October 2010. Plans for this will be made together during the spring 2010.
